Anything Goes • Sunday, June 18, 2023
“All ashore that’s going ashore!” Put on those tap shoes and hop on board the S.S. American for the hilarious shipboard romp wrapped in a timeless Cole Porter score. It’s delightful, delicious, and de-lovely!
As the S.S. American heads out to sea, hilarity and on-board antics ensue! On the passenger list is Reno Sweeney: a popular nightclub singer and former evangelist, her pal Billy Crocker: a lovelorn Wall Street broker who has stowed away on the ship to try to win over his beloved Hope Harcourt (a debutante who is engaged to another passenger, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh), and a second-rate conman, “Moonface Martin.” With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors, and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Moonface join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart. This hilarious musical romp across the Atlantic features a joyful Cole Porter score, including “De-Lovely,”  “I Get A Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top,” and the show-stopping title number “Anything Goes.”
Into the Woods • Sunday, July  2, 2023
Be careful what you wish for” seems to be the ongoing theme in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Brothers Grimm inspired dark musical comedy, INTO THE WOODS. The story follows The Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to go the King’s Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give some milk. When the Baker and his wife are visited by the neighborhood witch, who reveals to them that she placed a curse on their family, the two set off on a journey into the woods to reverse the curse. Also in the woods, we meet Little Red, who is trying to visit her grandmother, a hungry Wolf, a maiden in a tower with very long hair, and the Princes chasing after their loves. Just when it seems that everyone has gotten their happily ever after, Jack’s beanstalk brings them a visit from an angry Giant, forcing the community to come together to save each other and their kingdom, but sacrifices must be made. Filled with exquisite music and brilliant lyrics, this innovative production is sure to enchant as it ventures beyond “happily ever after.”
